[ music | Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas ]

An excellent thing about Boston - people actually tour here~. Vienna Teng played at Berklee Performing Arts Center tonight and aaaahhhhhh I love her.
Set list:
Whatever You Want
Blue Caravan
Gravity (Lake Version)
In Another Life
1 Br/Ba
The Last Snowfall
Stray Italian Greyhound
Antebellum
No Gringo
Harbor
Grandmother Song
Radiohead cover

Alex Wong played percussion and did the male vocals for the occasional songs that needed them (i.e. Antebellum) and he was pretty bamf, ngl. Also pretty bamf was that for the songs that required background tracks, they recorded it live the first time and then seemlessly looped it in so they could do the main vocal/percussion track in the meantime. Vienna sounded just as bamf in real life as she does on the albums - she produces her own albums and I'm pretty sure she didn't need to touch up anything while recording. They played four of my favourite songs and although some of the others were just alright songs compared to my favourites, they were still good. The Last Snowfall sounds general compared with the rest of the songs on the album, but live Vienna recorded the background breaths and the track for the chorus/vocals and it was amazing live. She played a wide variety of songs from her albums and gahhh she was just so good. I love her sfm.

Then was intermission between them and Over the Rhine. Figured we might as well stay since we paid for the whole thing and I hadn't even heard of them before. Stage crew was bringing out all these string instruments and I was like 'Holy fucking shit, I hope they're like a rock string band!' These people leaving were like 'Hey, do you guys want our seats? We're in B107 and B108 and we came just to see Vienna.' We were in V101 and V102 so hey, why not? I would have a thousand times rather been in those seats to see Vienna, but. Over the Rhine ended up being... they weren't bad, but they just sounded like they were for a totally different demographic and eh. They had like three or so songs that I didn't mind but the rest were eh. The lady next to me was MAD into them and it cracked my shit up.

I was hoping that Vienna would be out at the end when they were selling stuff but instead was this bored looking guy and I was like ':| Well, I would have bought a CD and had it autographed by you but you're LAME so psh' and then we went to McDonalds, which took Husky Dining Dollars.

Overall: A++++ would def see again Vienna, C for Over the Rhine

Continuing my apparent trend of updating on Wednesdays, haha.

Well, I'm back in NF and yeahhhh. I have nothing to do all break but download stuff, watch shit, play Kingdom Hearts, and play The Hobbit.

I'm excited to see people tonight because it's doing something, but.
It's weird without her.
I can tell that this break is going to be weird without her here while I'm home and she's not.

Let's see.

Tomorrow/today is Veteran's Day, so no classes! Not as good as missing a Monday, but Wednesday is still pretty hip. Tomorrow I also have to write my Music Industry career paper and my Enhancing Honors James Brown half-essay-thing, but no CompSci tomorrow morning! YES.

Computer Science is pretty much the bane of my existence. Sometimes I feel like I can understand it and other times it's like :|. The biggest problem for me is that I get mad points off for dumb things in the homework - I'm pretty sure it's impossible for me to get a grade other than ~75 on homework. It's not that I don't try, it's just something small and OOPS JUST TOOK OFF 25 POINTS. There are ten more classes and I can not be more excited.

Spy Wars - eh. Hard to tell because we haven't gotten the last quiz back, but. I had a meeting with the professor and it was really chill. I've done the readings and am participating in class now (I KNOW RIGHT) so hopefully that part's good. I need to um scrape by/do my best with the quizzes, but I don't know if we have any more because we've been through all the textbooks. Other than that, the big essay is the only other grade. In which I'm like 'Fuckkkkkkk' because I don't know how to write a history paper. If I can find a good topic I can write about then I'm sure it'll be fine, but that is slightly difficult to begin with. Professor Burds said that I'll probably get a B in the class, but that does depend heavily on the paper at the end of the semester.

Study of Cultures I'm currently doing fine in, but we only have one test grade so far. I guess participation/attendance, but I'm there all the time and it's not like I participate a lot, but I do talk occasionally. However, class is from 3 to 4 30. And if I don't nap before class, I will fall asleep during it. I don't mean to, I just do. It's horrible, but humorous to be like 'I NEED TO NAP.'

Music Industry - we still don't have our midterms back yet. Blarg, it's not like I think about it all the time, but thinking about it now I would like to know that I'm not currently getting a C. Still have to do the career paper due on Thursday - it's not like it's hard, I just don't want to do it. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel motivated to work on it, which would be so much better than having to force myself to do it. Overall, I do think the class is really interesting. I know I don't need to think this far in advance now, but I would like to know what career I want to go into when I graduate. Co-op will help with this, but. It is nice having a major and knowing that I def want to go into this field, though. And there's so many interesting opportunities and cool jobs that I probably will never get and the fact that I love music to begin with=yayyyyy.

Pep band is so much fun. Still the only clarinet, but I've gotten to know the people that go to everything. Of course it's only been two months, but the same people I know also know me so it's not like I'm Awkward Freshman. I'm relatively tight with the two flute players that come most often, talk to Bryan because I carry his stuff all the time since I'm a woodwind, talk to Peter because he's in my Study of Cultures class, and then know some other kids. Also I dislike Nate but so does everyone - they just don't have to sit next to him.
The Northeastern BU hockey game was AMAZING. They dumbly had Husky Hunt on the same Friday/Saturday that the hockey game was, but that's their loss. BU's our rival so the place was packed. They overshot us by a lot, but there were so many powerplays on both sides. There was the annual hot dog eating competition during the first break and I wanted to vommm. It was 3 Northeastern kids vs 3 BU kids, but it was still pretty gross. We were tied 0-0 the entire game until we scored in the last seven minutes. I swear the stadium could have erupted, it was so fucking awesome. However, with 4 minutes left one of our guys got penalized for five minutes and we were like 'FUCKKKKKK' 3 minutes left and BU pulled their goalie so it was 6v4. It was a solid 3/4 minutes of screaming and being on the edge of our seats and exciting and when the clock ran out it was like FUCK YEAH HUSKIES! So happy and excited and our fight song -> Hey Baby and aaaaahhhhhhh. Definitely one of the best moments of my life, along with marching at Disney.

Scheduling for classes for next semester is December 3rd, but I've been excited about it frever it seems. I'm always excited about class schedules, idek, I'm such a loser. I guess it's kinda more so in college because it's seriously you pick what classes you want to take. My advisor said that there was an Honors macroeconomics class, but the list only has Honors micro so that better be there when I need to take that class or I'll be pisseddddd. Also if I take an Honors math class plus the sophomore seminar then I'll have all my Honors, but they don't have any Honors math classes for spring semester besides Calc2 fr science/engineering. I e-mailed one of the Honors advisers to see if there were going to be any more Honors math classes - there better be, since music doesn't have any Honors. Although I did finally get an e-mail from the Music Theory dude about the placement test and he said that he'd give me more info in a couple days, but it's better than nothing. Other than if they add an Honors math class, I have all the possibilities of a schedule for next year. I'm aiming for MWR Industry 2, Macro, and whatever math I'm in and then MR Theory for Industry 1. If I don't pass the placement test and don't commit suicide, then it'll be W Fundamentals of Western Music Theory. Basically, no TF Friday classes unless I have to - even though the 3/4 classes on MWR will be annoying, I think it'll be worth it to have Tuesdays and Fridays off. Only Macro offers TF classes anyway, but.

Oh, Christa and I won the door decorating contest in IV! We had Charlie Brown and Linus on the door with some spiderwebs on the outside, spiders, bats hanging from the doorframe... pretty sweet. Although there are no signs up, the judge people said there was a Thanksgiving one and we were going to decorate our door anyway - our door is so empty and boring now. We're going to make Pocahontas and John Smith, among other Thanksgiving things tomorrow during the free day. Unless Christa spends the whole day with Chris of course, but...

Speaking of that, Christa started going out with Chris last Wednesday and now she spends an incredible amount of time with him. This is to be expected, of course, but I didn't really expect it to this extent when they've been going out for less than a week... Christa's spent every night with him since then except for two nights ago. I mean, I understand if she's out partying and it's convenient to crash with him because he has a single now, but weeknights she's still with him and everything. Eh, it's a good thing that I don't being by myself with Kermit a lot, but sometimes it's like :| because it's every night. I know that I'm partially being bitter (much less than I expected to be) but it's just weird to me that this is happening when they've been going out for um five days? Perhaps this is the difference between college and high school, but. Who sees where this'll lead.

Bed time now I guess - work to do tomorrow for Music Industry, Enhancing Honors, and the door decorating stuff. Getting up earlyish to not waste the day away and we'll see how tomorrow goes. Weeks are weird here. I'm really just trying not to get too excited about Christmas too early, though. Gah!

[ music | Gary Jules - Greetings from the Side ]

Right, so I've been pretty busy recently, I guess.
Pep band is still good - still the only clari, but. I'm slowly but surely learning the music and I finally got a flipfolio! I have to be mad careful about turning the pages because the rings open easily (ugh) but I missed flipfolios.

Recently I've had a good amount of work but nothing I can't handle, I guess. I get a lot of work due on the same day, most of the time. I had two midterms last Monday which were alright and I have another one tomorrow that I still have to study for. Spy Wars has a good amount of work - if you don't do well on the quiz you can write a 3-5 page paper for a better grade so I have to do that for the first quiz, but we have another quiz tomorrow and ughhhh. The problem with the Spy Wars quizzes is that they're on the books we have to read for the daily readings. Which is legit because he wants to make sure that we're reading, but the questions on the quiz are relatively specific ones and sorry but I can't memorize the entire book. So I'm pretty much doomed to fail them and write essays, but ugh. Ugh ugh ugh all around. Besides these goddamn quizzes, the class is fine - I finished my presentation so I can't do anything about that anymore, I have to write a 10/12 page paper sometime later but I can do that on my presentation book, and I do the daily readings. It's the quizzes, honestly.

I rearrange my room like every week, seriously. Now that the fort is all good, I got posters this past week so this morning after our fire drill I rearranged the posters on the wall. I brought some sheets from home to decorate the fort with kinda, so that'll come later, but I still have the Spy Wars/Music Industry stuff to do today, so.

Ugh, I don't even know what to talk about. School is school, friends are friends - I haven't done anything really extraordinary. Which is probably the difference between now and when I used to update every day - I would update about all the little things that happened that no one cares about and now I'm like 'Well, no one cares about this, so I won't talk about it'

Two maybe interesting things: we threw water balloons out of the 22nd floor window last week or so and I finally got tickets to see Vienna Teng in December, so yay.

I have so much stuff I have to watch. Tuesday, hopefully. I saved an entire window of Firefox just for stuff to watch because it's so bad - most of them are just one episodes of a series, but others range from a few episodes to watch to a lot (i.e. GA which updated from episode 5 to episode 10. Ughhhh). So yeah, I'll get that done eventually hopefully soon.

It doesn't feel like Halloween is this weekend. I don't have a costume, I don't know what I'm going to do, and it isn't the Halloween spirit at all. Blarg. I'll probably end up hanging out with Clay or something because it'll be ChrisandSarah time as always and Christa, Mia, and Jennie will probably go looking for parties. Blah.

Alright, maybe now I'll eat and keep working on stuff or whatevs, idek.

[ music | Aladdin - The Cave of Wonders ]

I've had this screen open for awhile now but I don't really know what to type in it. School has been alright. I have two midterms on Monday :| CompSci you can't really study for but can just do exercises kinda like math, but better. However, for my Study of Cultures class I have to memorize a bit. It's about Aristotle and Confucius and there's some relatively simple essays about it but I still have to know it in the first place.
I had two presentations to do in Spy Wars today but since I got that done the only work left in that class are the daily readings and the papers later on.

Christa just told me play the Pokemon Johto theme out loud, haha. I hope Megan and Thalia are enjoying it - Disney is next, but still.

I finally started watching Glee! I know that I have a buttload of other stuff to watch, but I saw episode 7 before working on Spy Wars and Hulu only have the five most recent episodes so I found the first two episodes now so I can just Hulu later.

Also I'M GOING TO THE WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE MIDNIGHT SHOWING AND LEAVING IN HALF AN HOUR SDLKFSFDKLJFD I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED. If the tone from the first trailer carries through the whole thing I'm going to like be in tears half the movie.

Pep band is pretty good - I'm friends with a couple freshman and then the flute upperclassmen. I bonded with Sarah during the rainy horrible football game two weeks ago and against Nate last game and we both are always there, so I don't feel like an ~outcast or anything. I'm actually getting better at the music as we play, which is kinda how I always did it (practice lmfao what the fuck is that) but it's cool. The first legit men's hockey game is tomorrow and I'm pretty excited - the school gets pretty into men's hockey and it's a lot of fun :)

Chris's friend from Maine came up this past weekend and since Sarah was at home along with everyone else, Chris visited my room to find entertainment. We ended up going to CondomWorld and basically being douchebags the whole way there and back also. It was pretty cool because otherwise I wouldn't have done anything (besides Music Industry homework, but psh).

As for Music Industry, our only homework during the semester (haha seriously) is to do this career paper. Sounds lame, but I feel like it'll actually help me go through different career options because I don't know anything about this. I decided on record producer, so I fired off e-mails to a bunch of people I found through Wikipedia and have actually gotten some great responses back so far. I was worried that nobody would respond since I e-mailed basically all big name people, but three people have e-mailed me back so far and :) Not failing this project yay.

Yeah, I know it's been forever since I last updated but the weeks alternate between flying past and slowly getting there so my sense of time is really weird. But I'll stop here for now~

Time is finally passing by quickly. I'm going to look back and regret thinking this in the future, but if college was like neverending weeks then that wouldn't really be too much fun :|

Classes aren't too hard so far. CompSci has kinda gotten better but then again I haven't started working on the next homework set yet :| My homework partner ditched or something (she's MIA) so I did the last one by myself and didn't care enough by the end to figure it out completely, but I e-mailed the professor so maybe I'll have one next week but we're changing in October anyway. Music Industry is pretty easy and I think is honestly the only class I have a final in (which better not be on the last day; also apparently it snows every year during finals week so professors have to change their tests or something for that). I haven't read the textbook yet and we don't have any homework besides a paper due in November, but I'll probably read it for the midterm/final. The class is pretty chill overall and pretty interesting. The Music Industry guy at Undeclared Fair said that co-ops were really cool for MI, so there's another point in its favor.
Cultures will probably suck along the lines of tests/essays, but the class itself has no homework besides reading (which we go over in class anyway). Spy Wars... bleh. Class itself isn't too bad, but we have readings for every class that I struggle to remember stuff from. I took notes for the most recent reading and it helped a lot so I'm going to go back to the others and take notes from them so that I won't bomb the surprise quizzes. I have to do a partner presentation sooner than I expect but we want to talk to the professor/see what the first group is doing because he never specified exactly what we're doing so we're pretty clueless on that front.

Living in Boston is pretty cool; even though I haven't gone exploring around much yet, I like knowing that I can if I wanted to and that practically anything I need I can get whenever. The campus itself is weird in that there's a lot of open grass all over the place so it's like living in a city but still green campus area. I have to pass through MRuggles to get to everything else but other than that Northeastern only has one big road running through campus. It's like a reminder that you're living in a city but it's not like BU (which has like no campus and is all city). It's really nice for me because I wanted city but campus at the same time and NU has a great balance of it. If you want to spend all of your time (and money, haha) in Boston then you can just be on campus for classes/sleeping, but if you wanted to stay on campus then there's plenty of stuff here also.

So yeah, college is pretty hip so far but I know that this semester so far is probably relatively easy and I'm spoiled :| But we'll see how the rest of the year goes before it starts to get crazy with co-ops&etc.

[ music | Josh Groban - You Are Loved (Don't Give Up) ]

Four days later, I finally found the time/&etc in order to do this!

Fall 2009 chart here for reference
I'm leaving out all the sequels and kid shows, fyi
Nyan Koi!: Sounds pretty dumb
Kampfer: Anything where a dude turns into a chick=no
11eyes: This could either be really good or really dumb and cliche. I'm hoping for the former.
Armed Librarians: Well, if you have a librarian fetish this is for you... haha. I'll probably watch it through based on the first episode.
A Certain Scientific Railgun: Mmm, I don't know; it's a side story that I haven't seen the original of but I might give it a chance.
Seitokai no Ichizon: Apparently there's a lot of parody but I think I'll end up watching...
InuYasha: Gets its own bold for LOLLLLLLLLL
Letter Bee: Has a good possibility of being good if it's carried out right.
The Sacred Blacksmith: Mmm, probably not.
Miracle Train: Sounds like a reverse-harem=probably not
Yumeiro Patissiere: Will probably make me hungry, but you can't really tell what type of show it is from the description
Heaven's Lost Property: Harem-ish and sounds dumb
Kobato: Eh, I guess it depends a lot on the animation style, but probably not
Kimi no Todoke: Sounds pretty cliche, but maybe. If I'm really bored, haha.
Sasameki Koto: Probably won't be as good as Aoi Hana, but I'll give it a try
Darker Than Black: Sounds interesting but a sequel, so it'll probably go on my To Watch list and hopefully I'll get around to it sometime, haha.
Blue Literature: Maybe? idk, sounds kinda weird. I don't know why they mentioned the manga-kas since it's going to be animated, but...
Fairy Tail: Eh, sounds like a typical fantasyish.
Trapeze: I was thinking no but they decided to include that it was from the producers of Mononoke for some reason; I still have to watch that one but I probably still won't watch Trapeze.
Winter Sonata: If I like it I'll probably go watch the live action, but it doesn't sound too bad
Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Maybe, if history interests me that much, haha.

I'm just trying shit and it's so aggravating.
I just want to finish this so I can go to bed and not have work tomorrow.
I can't even go over this with Dumbass CompSci Bitch that's supposed to be my homework partner because she's a dumb piece of shit who sucks at computer science.
I just need this goddamn boolean stop-world to work and I'll be done but noooooooooooo of course not.

[ music | Infected Mushroom - Becoming Insane ]

It's been a full week of school! Everyone else is in like week three/four, haha. But yeah, classes started last Monday and now it's Tuesday so let's see how I feel about classes now.

Comparative Study of Cultures is kinda weird. We haven't done anything much in class - we've only had two classes, but we're still doing like introduction stuff? I don't know, but the professor is kinda awkward but young and funny. We got moved into the YMCA building on the other side of campus, but I never have class directly beforehand so I can just leave as early from IV as I want and stroll down.
Spy Wars is... mmm. It's interesting so far but it's really been history and I'm greattttt at history :| The professor is really into it and we have a TA who is basically our professor's most favourite person EVER. But he knows his shit well, so eh. However, we do have some presentations we have to do in front of the class - he's doing a lot of 'teach the class about something only you looked up and know about.' So ehhh. The fact that it's an Honors class is the worst part - that means that everyone there is smart and ugh. That also had a classroom change, but it's alright because the class beforehand isn't too far away from the new building.
Connections and Decisions is lame but mad easy. It wouldn't be worth it to switch into Music at NU instead of it, so whatevs.
Enhancing Honors I actually haven't had yet but it's with MAUREEN so it's going to be amazing :)

And now we're down to the last two, haha.
Music Industry is a really easy class so far, ngl. I don't know if I'll be able to say the same later on by midterms&etc, but so far we've had no homework and no reading. The professor is going by the textbook through the syllabus, but she said that she kinda strays and so far I haven't found the need to read the textbook (although I probably will on Friday). We start off the class with current events which is basically like talk about Rock Band/Guitar Hero and then do some learning which isn't like the most interesting thing in the world but I don't know anything about this stuff so it is interesting.
Computer Science is my first class in the morning and although it's at 9 15 and not an 8am, I still dread going to it :| Mmm, I don't know. The more I like Music Industry, the less I like CompSci. It takes me so much longer to do problems then it should, but it is kinda like learning a new language, so. I just feel really dumb in the class overall, I guess. Although I did have lab today with this dumb annoying girl as my lab partner and now I know that I'm not the dumbest one in the class. It was so annoying and now she's also my homework partner but I plan on like doing all the homework myself pretty much. I think I might even redo the lab today by myself; you didn't have to turn anything in - it was just figure out code to solve some problems and make animations - and she was so dumb that I could have done it a lot quicker and by the end I didn't want to deal with her anymore and she didn't want to do it either so we just didn't bother finishing. I hope she's not majoring in it and I don't know why she's even in the class in the first place, but :|

So yeah, right now I'm actually really leaning towards declaring Music Industry. I looked at the course requirement stuff and actually went in and talked to the music adviser about it (which is a big step for me ngl) and he said that I wouldn't be behind if I declared in because they offer the courses all the time. I'd be behind in Theory but he actually said that I could test out of Theory 1 maybe (which I probably could without even knowing what they cover in it) so I'd be even there. I'd have to figure out what career to aim for through industry, but there's the career paper and co-ops to help with that. I'm going to keep thinking about it and if I still want to later I'll probably declare halfway through the semester or so.

Kinda on the same line, co-ops are like my hope idk for getting a job after I graduate. They're internships so I'll have ~real world experience and also possible connections for jobs in the same company or resume building, haha. And it's dumb for me to assume that because I'm going on co-op three times that I'll have a job right after I graduate, but about 2/3 of the students that go on co-op get jobs from their employers. Aaaaaand this one of the reasons why I love Northeastern, haha. Even the chance of having a job after graduating makes me feel good about whatever career path I choose. And if I effing hate my co-op then maybe that's not the right major for me, haha. Who knows.

Actually thinking about the future is weird.

[ music | Nightwish - Higher Than Hope ]

Today was like the last day of free stuff :( Welcome Week is winding down and we had the last activities fair thing today where all the clubs are out with free stuff for you to get. The one in Curry was better on Tuesday because I got popcorn, a balloon animal, and a snow cone from there, haha. But I did pick up some stuff; Saturday is the Outreach project thing that won't be as bad as I expect it to be and that's pretty much it...

Today was the stuff with David Sheff, the author of Beautiful Boy, our summer reading book. We had an Honors only thing at 3 where he talked and guess what I did? Yeah, I slept through it. The chairs were comfy enough and they had backs so I could just slouche down and rest my head on the back and I was outttt. I mean, the dude basically talked about the same stuff he did in the book (I started/decided to fall asleep in the first five minutes when he was basically just quoting the book/himself) and he tends to ramble a bit. So I slept through that and woke up for the end and got my book signed. I also cut the line for that, haha. Talked to Maureen and asked her if we had Enhancing Honors today (which we didn't) and then I was BFFy with her and got a hug, hahaaaa. Oh Maureen.
Then at 7 the entire freshman class had to listen to him talk in Matthews. I once again napped even though the chairs were half as comfy as the other ones. And he pretty much said the same thing, anyway. At the end there we were allowed to ask questions for him to answer and like THE LINE OF DOOM formed. It wouldn't have been that bad except David Sheff rambles a lot and talks a lot more to answer a question then needed. So there's this huge line and people are leaving (at least they came? Still kinda rude, but :|) and Christa was like 'Okay, if it hits 8 30 then we're leaving because there's still nine people in line and I have an 8 am class tomorrow' because if we stayed then she'd probably have to leave right to her class once we got out. So Christa's counting down the minutes when this kid finally gets to the microphone. 'I HAVE THREE QUESTIONS!' We were like 'Ughhhh because that means that Sheff gets to answer three questions for the price of one person and more talking. Then we hear him again go 'I HAVE THREE QUESTIONS!!!' which should have been our first sign that something was about to go down. Suddenly this slightly chubby Asian kid starts legit yelling into the microphone and basically shitting on the book I think, but he had this accent and you couldn't tell what he was saying at all. But it was so hysterical, him yelling angrily into the microphone and it sounded like gibberish and I swear that everyone still there just started laughing. I was like peeing myself, David Sheff was trying not to laugh, Maureen was trying not to laugh, the ASL translator lady we have at all the assemblies wasn't even trying to translate it anymore and was laughing, and this kid just kept yelling. After a good minute and a half/two minutes of him yelling, Maureen tried to interrupt him to tell him that Sheff would answer his question if he could hold it there and he just kept on yelling. Eventually I guess he finished his rant and then legit turned around and walked out. It was like the weirdest funniest thing I've seen here so far. And it was def worth the wait.

I played a bit of Zelda tonight (finished the Cave of Flames and started to get the Pegasus Boots) and I kinda felt bad because I actually have homework (a buttload of reading for Espionage and then some for CompSci) but I have all tomorrow free to do that and I think I'll just get up at 8 30 again like since classes started so I can adjust to waking up that early and get my shit done. Blargggg actual school :(

So~ today was the first day of classes!

Fundamentals of Computer Science is 2/3 the way across campus and it's at 9 15 but I left at 9 to make sure I def had enough time to get there (it takes like seven minutes if I ~powerwalk). The professor has a sense of humor and the class is in this huge room so I couldn't really tell how many people were in there. It sounds really interesting and the exponential learning curve is a good thing for losers like me who know nothing - basically in the beginning it's slow/easy stuff and then it picks up quickly when you know the basics&etc. There's also no final for it! There's an exam in October and one in November, but that's it. Class participation is part of the grade as always, although part of that is asking questions which I'm sure I'll do a lot of :| Overall, I'm pretty excited for what we'll be doing in this class for the rest of the semester.

Music Industry 1 also sounds really interesting - considering this and compsci are right now my two top choices for majors it's going to be really hard to decide. I heard that this is a relatively easy class and it doesn't seem too difficult - one 4/6 page paper about a career in music industry. Sounds like the career project from freshman year, but it has the same idea about it - that you may have an idea on what specifically to do for your co-op sophomore year. Being in the music industry sounds bamf, but I def need to know more specifics on the shit.

Comparative Study of Cultures is an Honors class in the smallest room ever with 19 of us in the African American Center. Yeah... RONNIE is also in my class, who's like a duplicate of Rosenspice in that he always has to say what he wants and argues and thinks he's right and extends his sentences to sound smart when you could say the same thing much simpler. Our professor is this young guy who's pretty funny and sounds like he'll actually make the class interesting; it's not like I really wanted to learn about theology, ethics, and practice in world religions but he really cares about the subject and is really into it. I know, how weird is that; teachers that actually care about what they're teaching!

So as for classes, Wednesdays are alright. Tomorrow I think we don't have Enhancing Honors (apparently?) so I only have three instead of four classes - compsci, music industry, and then the spy class. We'll see how that one goes; tomorrow is also First Pages blahhhh. But Friday is free so :)

Tonight we also went on an adventure to find the movie theatre by Chinatown. Jennie proposed the idea to go see 9 which Christa and I cashed in on and ended up also going with Clay and Alex, the latter of which I dislike. Clay said that he knew where it was so we planned on walking there and taking the T back. We ended up walking too far (Christa asked for directions because the men were too manly to ask) and doubled back a bit. We cut it slightly close, but we had enough time to get to the 'auditorium' to find seats and wait a bit before previews. Overall, I think that 9 was pretty good. There were some I guess cliche scenes but were kinda like important moments for the characters and they did a good job characterizing each of them so you could tell them apart easily. I personally love post-apocalyptic settings in the first place and was kinda hoping for some steampunk or whatevs but~ overall it was pretty ace. Not like THE GREATEST but still better than decent.

Okay I am mad tired and getting up early for me tomorrow pooppppppp school

So so so.

Today was the Honors Induction Breakfast, which was full of hard bagels and laughing at unfortunate people with the last name of Wang. Got these ~snazzy pins and took this lame picture and then chilled back in the dorm for a bit before the convocation.
Convocation was pretty boring and eh. Mom and Dad came up to see it because they were officially invited&etc. Our president is actually pretty funny. The cheerleaders did shit that was pretty eh and the pep band played the Hey Song. Seriously. I almost died. I still know the dumb Rebels cheerleading routine. jfc, it was horrible. Also one of the a cappella groups sang Pocket Full of Sunshine and it's still stuck in my headddd.

Barbecue for all the freshman after. I like how they actually have veggie burgers at all these barbecues, it's so frigging nice. I can't stand events where they have legit no food for vegetarians to eat or they're like 'lol there's salad.' YEAH, LIKE A SALAD WILL COUNT FOR AN ENTIRE MEAL. Bitches.

Gave Mom and Dad a bit of a tour of International Village and we went to the bookstore to buy shit like typical freshman parents/students. They left, came back to the dorm for a bit, and then we went to play Ultimate Frisbee. I actually met a girl from Orange, CT who played us in Caldo (she played for South Central) and remembered that we were the blue/red uniforms. I told her that we probably lost and she was like 'Yeah, 4-0 at your turf. It was really cold.' It was so weird but pretty funny.

Band ice cream social at 7! ngl, I'm now really excited for band here; I think it's going to make college great. The students there said that pep band is like a dysfunctional family and they do shit together all the time&etc and it was a kinda small group so :) And it was so nice to hang out with band kids again - it's weird, but like with band kids you don't need to pretend to be nice and make friends and everything because you just know them already kinda. I'd ask people what their instruments were and when they answered I was like 'I knew it' you can just tell with people. And it sounds really weird, but like at least four people I talked to were like 'I'm so excited to hang out with band kids again.' I don't know, I guess it's just a loser thing. About 8 of us played Apples to Apples and it was pretty fun - there was this sax player (read: annoying, slightly pretentious, gay) Greg who was like mad in-the-closet gay and I just all out shat on him all night; it felt so good to just totally be myself with these people that I didn't know but didn't have to automatically be nice to to be friends with them. It's weird, but I guess it's just like a band thing. And I miss band things a lot.

Tomorrow is the Welcome to the Neighborhood dumb thing and then meetings with departments. I think there was some random shit later on like a display of clubs going on or something and then some event with free ice cream that we might go to. It's weird that classes are going to start in two days - I'm just in the free chilling Northeastern vibe right now.

[ music | Infected Mushroom - Change the Formality ]

Well now, let's go over my busy past two days.

jfc, I almost forgot what I did yesterday already. Gahh~.
Yesterday was the ropes course! Kinda weird how they named that the Ropes Course when only one out of four stations had to do with ropes, but. We had to get up mad early and we were shipped off to the Ashland Northeastern area ~40 minutes away to this huge area of grass and trees by a lake or something. I was on the Red Team made of about 60 kids total.
First we went to the legit ropes part. This was split into four different groups and I thought that we were going to trade groups/areas, which we didn't :| Our station had you climb up a tree (ladder and steel nails) and then walk across a log at least to the middle where someone else would be going towards so you could high five and then jump/be belayed down. I did everything except legit go up because there were a lot of kids that wanted to go so I was like 'lolkwhatevs, we did shit like this all the time in Project Adventure so it's cool if I miss it.'
Second was split into two different parts. One part had teams where you basically played The Ground is Made of Hot Lava. I'm not even kidding. There was lava and you had 'lava pads' that had to be touching you at all times or it'd be swept away by the lava and you had to go with your team of ~10 past six puzzles and into the middle - my team won, suckaaaas. The second part involved walking along a cable about two feet in the air from tree to tree with basically just ropes between the long parts. You got points depending on how you did it&etc with all these technicalities, but it was pretty cool.
Lunch they had barbeque but actually had veggieburgers - I was surprised.
Third was this On Target thing where the beginning was this icebreaker where you just talk about something with random people for two minutes and the legit game was throwing tennis balls into buckets. Our strategy was to have about two throwers per bucket and the rest of us kneeled in front of the buckets with our shirts tight above the top so they could fall in. Our group had the winning strategy and we were pretty bamf, ngl.
Lastly was the Ultimate Game. There were either Activity Panels or Trivial Panels and you roll the dice, see what panel you get on, whatevs. Trivia you had to answer correctly to get 30 points, activities were worth 60, and you could get 10 points for like effing anything random under the sun that the dudes would give you points for - aka complimenting them and shit. Our group got third overall, but we were pretty intense about it. It was also right in the middle of the day, hot, and we were running around. Gahhhh.

Today we had the scavenger hunt! Our group was B6 and we were competing against nine other teams in the same area - North End/Waterfront. We had ten clues we had to figure out the locations of and take pictures by and then three bonus ones. My group was another girl, three guys, and two upperclassmen guides. Everyone actually knew where most of the shit was while I was totally clueless, haha. I did see the sign for Paul Revere's house, though, which also led to the church, both of which were clues - I wasn't totally pointless! We had a lot of fun with it and I thought it was pretty cool. We came back first out of all the B teams so we got an extra ten points and we believe that we won. The prize is a $150 gift card to the Cheesecake Factory, which wouldn't cover all seven of us but is certainly a discount for it. And the team was cool, so that's hip. We're unsure about one of the bonuses - we had to take a picture with someone dressed up as a colonial and we didn't find anyone until the very end when we saw this guy, but he was part of a paid tour and was dick to us and didn't let us take a picture. So we kinda went behind his crowd and made a gap in our line and took a picture with him in the background. So we should have won, but yeah.

The food here continues to be delicious. There's a lot to choose from every day (although somewhat limited for me, being picky) and it's still good.

I'm pretty sure that I'm joining pep band - I signed up online&etc, looked at when they're practicing in the e-mails, &etc. I think it'd be great to meet friends and play Scorpius and everything. So yeah, looking forward to that soon.

Tomorrow is pretty busy - convocation, barbecue after, then a bunch of random stuff.
jfc, when you go in the bathroom between the rooms you hit a button to lock it and it sounds like someone's trying to open the door like in a Lockdown and it scares me every time, haha.

Alright, done being inane and going to bed since I'm getting up at 8 30 tomorrow for the 9 am honors induction breakfast. THAT I AM WEARING NICE CLOTHES TO BECAUSE JACKIE TOLD ME TO AND I AM WHIPPED

[ music | Imogen Heap - Closing In ]

So, second day here.

Had to get up early to go to this lame discussion about our summer reading book. Three professors talked about it and I dozed through it all (second day and I'm already sleeping, this does not bode well, haha). Then we had small discussions about it which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
From there, I talked with this girl in my small group and we had lunch together and then went out 'adventuring' like to find the bookstore, haha. I already knew where it was but I wasn't going to be dick about it so I just kinda followed. Went through the bookstore and then met up with her roommate (Christa was out with her family for a bit) and we meant to drop off stuff in her room and then go somewhere else but that never happened because we were in the lobby right inside the north tower entrance and decided to see how the purple chairs were and then stayed there for an hour or so just watching people cross through the room.
Went up to the room for a bit before Christa came back and then we went down to dinner with her family (and this other girl we talked with this morning). Dinner led to room and kinda being social and then Jackie was actually in her dorm and relatively free so it was Skype time~. While I was talking with her Christa went out somewhere to be social and now I don't know where she is and don't know if I want to go be social or not :| I kinda feel dick being in my room on the second day at almost 10, but idk if I want to go out - I guess I'll text her and see where she's at. Blahhhh. I'm so bad at this friends thing, salfkjasflk. Clean slate is good, but at the same time I'm too awkward to be social by myself; I don't mind if I'm with someone else. Then again, I don't want to seem clingy to them, so... who knows. I'll go pretend to be social&etc, I guess.
Up early for the Ropes course tomorrow - JOY, haha.
